A different kind of tire shop.
Welcome to Black Hills Tire
At Black Hills Tire, community comes first. Whether it's building lasting relationships with our customers or fostering a supportive environment for our team, everything we do revolves around nurturing that sense of togetherness.
We're not your typical auto shop, we take pride in going the extra mile, and we hope you'll notice the difference from the moment you walk through our doors.
Thank you for being a part of our community.
— Weston & Tenise Chapman

The Black Hills Tire
Manifesto
-
Newer isn’t always better and that there is something inherently good in hard work.
-
That friends who feel like family are the best kinds of friends and that nothing matters more than family.
-
In seeking the balance between hustle and rest, and striving to be passionate about both.
-
A leisurely first cup of coffee to start the day mindfully and then at day’s end, not clocking out from a job until you are proud.
-
In subtle beauty, the kind that doesn’t deteriorate with age or wear.
-
In doing work that we love and in choosing that, nudging others towards doing what they love.

scholarship opportunities
This scholarship was established in 2021 to honor the life of Jim Schnaible and to continue his legacy of supporting automotive education. Jim was an instructor for the Automotive Technology Program at Western Dakota Tech (WDT) for 31 years. He retired in 2004. During his tenure at WDT, Jim had 434 students graduate from the program. While Jim’s passion was teaching, he was much more than a teacher to those students. He was often a counselor, mentor and friend – guiding many of his students through challenging times and teaching life lessons with a joke and a smile. The Jim Schnaible Memorial Scholarship is an annual, merit-based scholarship, that focuses on rewarding ambitious, driven, goal-oriented individuals with a desire to become an Automotive Technician. This $10,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to any individual with the intent of enrolling in WDT’s Automotive Technology program. The recipient will receive $5,000 each year of the program.
The Jim Schnaible Memorial Scholarship is funded by Weston and Tenise Chapman of Black Hills Tire.

Build Dakota Scholarships are awarded to students entering high-need workforce programs at South Dakota’s technical colleges to fill the state’s technical careers with skilled professionals. The scholarship program will grow South Dakota’s own and recruit new South Dakotans. Recipients of the full-ride scholarships will commit to living and working in the state, in their field of study, for three years following graduation. The full-ride scholarships will support tuition, fees, books and other required program expenses in the eligible technical college programs.

Black Hills Tire is proud to partner with this program and help provide a full-ride scholarship to a deserving student attending the Automotive Technology program at WDT.

Dean dedicated his life in service to the Bison community in many capacities — as Mayor and Town Board member for many years, to the Bison Fire Department for 56 years with 48 of those years as Fire Chief, as well as 21 years on the Ambulance Service. He served on church and community boards and participated in establishing a Trap and Archery Club in Bison as well. Dean was perhaps best known for owning the Texaco Gas Station and tow truck. Dean’s passion and dedication to the Bison Community was second to none. We have established this scholarship as a way of preserving Dean’s legacy. This $2500 scholarship will be awarded each spring to a graduating senior from Bison High School who is pursuing a secondary education. The scholarship recipient will be chosen based on several criteria, with community service, volunteerism and personal character being foremost.

This scholarship is sponsored and funded by Black Hills Tire, owned by Weston and Tenise Chapman. Dean was influential in Weston’s life and helped mold Weston’s decision to become an automotive technician and start his own shop.
